What's Special About

Mrauk Oo is the ancient capital city of once powerful Arakan Kingdom by Rakhine ethnic group, however, now left untouched or abandoned. It is one of the major archaeological and tourist destinations in Myanmar. Second to Bagan of central Myanmar, Mrauk Oo houses a rich collection of fort like temples and pagodas, made of stone bricks. These ruins and temples of 15 centuries around Mrauk Oo reflects the strong faith of Rakhine people in Buddhism.

Unlike any other cities in Myanmar, locals here use shiny aluminium water pots from Bangladesh to carry water on their hips or heads. Mrauk Oo is actually the city left untouched which will give the real off-the-beaten experience and will also bring you back to the past.
